Different Is Beautiful

One of the greatest mistakes we make in life is comparing ourselves to other people.

We look at someone else’s success and wonder why our life does not look the same. We see people with more money, better opportunities, nicer homes, or easier journeys, and sometimes we begin to believe that we are less important because our story is different.

But God never created copies.

He created originals.

A rose is beautiful, but so is a sunflower. A mango tree is different from a coconut tree, yet both produce fruit. The sea is beautiful, and so are the mountains. Their beauty comes not from being the same, but from being different.

The same is true for us.

Growing up in an inner-city community can sometimes make you feel as though the world has already decided who you will become. Some people may look down on your address, your school, your family situation, or the struggles you face every day. Others may tell you what you cannot do rather than encouraging you to discover what you can do.

But God does not look at you the way people do.

When God looks at you, He sees potential.

He sees gifts.

He sees purpose.

He sees a future.

David was only a shepherd boy when God chose him to become a king. The disciples were ordinary fishermen when Jesus called them to change the world. God has always had a habit of choosing people whom society overlooks.

That means He can use you too.

You do not need to speak like everyone else.

You do not need to dress like everyone else.

You do not need to become someone else to be valuable.

You simply need to become the person God created you to be.

The world does not need another copy of somebody else. It needs the unique gift that is you.

So dream big.

Work hard.

Pray often.

Be kind.

Stay away from things that destroy your future.

And never be ashamed of where you come from.

Your story may be different, but different is beautiful.

One day, the very things that made you feel different may become the things that inspire others.

Remember this: God does not make mistakes. If He made you, He has a purpose for you.

Walk with confidence.

Stand with dignity.

And thank God for making you wonderfully different.

“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14
