I PLAY

Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

While the Oxford Dictionary defines playtime as a period in the school day when children are allowed to go outside and play, Merriam-Webster states that playtime means time for diversion.

Some of the synonyms that support this definition include leisure, or leisure time, time available for ease and relaxation.

Taking the definition of Merriam I would say with a lot of confidence Yes! I play in my daily life.

What says playtime to me is

  • when I can register everything that is going on in my mind. In the late afternoon after a long day at work and terrible traffic going home.
  • A day full of activity in a thick or thin crowd that drives my anxiety crazy
  • A sick day with a cold/flu calls me very loud for playtime.

My playtime includes

  • Is a long warm shower
  • Relaxing with my ebook for hours
  • Watching Netflex with my notebook as if in a motivational conference.
  • A long walk with no earpads/earphones, just talking to myself
  • A long drive along the north coast
  • Early morning cup of coffee looking over my wide open window beside my bed
  • A chitchat with a friend or very close family member virtually or physically
  • Volleyball used to be my playtime when I was on campus but now I prefer to walk or jog.
