IT’S OK

If you had a freeway billboard, what would it say?

Between 2021- 2023 have been forced to be ok. During that time, I learned a statement that carried me through tough times. It is okay not to be okay.

Hayley Williams states “The biggest lesson I’ve learned is: it’s okay. It’s okay for me to be kind to myself. It’s okay to be wrong. It’s okay to get mad. It’s okay to be flawed. It’s okay to be happy. It’s okay to move on.”

It is a word I repeated to myself not once but many times. One night the man told me how my being fatherless contributed to my bad character as he considered it. I whispered this word when I was optionless.    ⁣

⁣another time, the same man was working so hard to demote me and he blamed it on ‘God’s will’ and I had to take myself for a meeting and remind myself, ‘It’s ok’. “It’s okay” can be the most compassionate reminder to self, especially in moments when it certainly doesn’t feel like it, especially in moments when it feels impossible to move on.⁣

Despite how difficult a moment may be, know that an “it’s okay” doesn’t have to be dismissive, as if what you’re going through doesn’t matter. Of course, it matters. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be hurting this much. ⁣Instead, take a deep breath and try making an “it’s okay” feel like surrender.

This is how we begin to nurture acceptance, which opens up the gateway into healing, growing, and moving through whatever it is YOU need to move through at this moment—without judgment or guilt. ⁣

Now I know how to reclaim Myself: Mindful Approaches to Heal Heartbreak is not just a workshop or counseling but an opportunity to re-establish a deeper relationship with the self within a supportive space of others also seeking closure, peace & the confidence to move forward. This is such a crucial moment to be there for the self in ways that were not possible before.

2024 I don’t need any reminders because I for sure know that “the one who won’t abandon you is you 🤍” #BLOGANURY2024
