I got my E-copy of The Millennial Experience by Daniel Francis on 3rd November 2022 just a week or so before my visit to Trinidad. I did not want to accidentally meet with Daniel and not be able to say anything about the book. I even sent a text on Instagram just to let him know I have the book.

It was easy to read on my iPad. I can tell you I love the Caribbean and this book written by a young Caribbean author was a plus on my E-book shelf.

I severally broke into hysterical laughter because I could relate so clearly to the stories. I took mental trips to African, Caribbean and European countries with each story told. The affirmations were so connected to each story and the last paragraph just gave a “random” hit to sum up the lesson.

One among the many stories that just left me with a wow was The Millennial Mind…. It reads “Empowerment comes from the acceptance that this is your life. It may not be perfect but it belongs to you. It may not be exactly the way you want it to be but that’s okay. No one’s life is exactly the way they want it to be and no one is without some level of worry or stress. Even when you achieve the things you want, something new to worry about will appear and prod you to work towards overcoming it.”

I used this statement to deliver my advent reflection on the third week of advent. While the theme for our advent was Wating, I reminded my audience that in this life we have to empower ourselves before we are empowered by society. I let them affirm “This is my life.” No matter what you are waiting for, and how long you’ll have to wait, just beat your chest and say, “This is my life” , wake up and try again. 

I finished this book on the night of 29th December a day after my birthday. Each story was relatable. Now I am ready to publish my own book by the end of 2023. 

2023 I am also ready to go “Airplane mode”. I am not tasked to help the whole world. Additionally, it’s time to take care of myself, dress well, take myself for dates, eat good and be the good version I was created to be. Daniel wrote,” You deserve better for yours; so you must create better for yourself.”

Reading this book you can dive deep into thoughts than you can imagine. I have severely woken up eyes wide open. I find myself in Trinidad then in China and on other days, I was in England, mentally.

Wow! … Just go read for yourself and come back and tell the story.
