“…… I SAW GOD!”

I found this statement so real in my life that I kept repeating it all throughout the day, “I have seen God.”
Life can throw you a hot ball which you may not be able to hold for long. Life can shake you in such a way that you didn’t expect. Life can mess with you so badly that thinking may be the hardest and the last thing you want to do at that very moment. But for sure, Isaiah just said it so well that I feel to “leggo the bird” If you are Jamaican, you know what I mean …. Just be free.

Isaiah 40:31 – But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

Today I listened to the tale of Wanjiku, where Lyne Ngungi was interviewing Maria, the wife of the Tony Onyango KCB rugby player who collapsed and died in front of his wife. https://youtu.be/xaChVag6v8M …. Maria’s story reminded me of the many times that I took for granted the Lord passing by me, whether it was through a friend, incident, or even normal circumstances. It was so coincidental that the Bible passage I read today was coming from the 1 Kings 19:9a, 11-16 where it was talking about Elijah’s experience with God. There are a few lines which I found encouraging to me and I hope it is to you too…

“He is a good God. A fair God. A just God.” – Maria Muinde

But the word of the LORD came to him, “Go outside and stand on the mountain before the LORD; the LORD will be passing by.” A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains and crushing rocks before the LORD – but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake – but the LORD was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was fire – but the LORD was not in the fire. After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound. When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went and stood at the entrance of the cave. A voice said to him, “Elijah, why are you here?” He replied, “I have been most zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts.

…… the stories of Maria and Elijah have strong similarities which are very loud and I can hear each one of them as loud as they are.

Many times, like Elijah, I’ve experienced the strong and heavy winds of life that gush towards me, crushing my whole being, mentally spiritually, physically financially …… you name it, maybe you have had the same experiences. But, the sad thing is that, we don’t feel Him passing by.

The earthquakes, natural calamity and ‘human calamity’ that makes us wonder “is God still there?”

Did you know that it is in those moments when everything seems like a beast and nothing makes sense that we should take the time to examine every movement that is taking place, the events that we cannot explain that are causing everything to fall into place, and more wondrously, the words that are being used at that very moment; words that haunt us with their meanings later when everything has calmed down.…. those are the moments that we should hear the ‘whisper sounds’ and experience the Lord passing by.

A friend told me of a story when his family lost their mother and the disagreement and greediness which hindered every move they made to lay their mother to rest. It was very difficult until he took the time to lock himself in his room, sit down on the soft bed, tilt his head and close his eyes …… and, as he was dozing off in that moment, his eyes popped open as he saw a “shadow” of his mother nodding to him from his bathroom door.

One prayer I pray today, is that I may be granted the grace not to miss a moment when the Lord is passing by. I pray that you too may be granted a chance, not so much to see His face, but at least the hem of His clothes as he passes by you.

And as Maria messaged me via WhatsApp she said, “He is a good God. A fair God. A just God.” Do not miss a chance to see God. Calm down and know He is ………… God.

May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show His favor and give you, His peace.
